Our Schools

Public Prep currently supports three schools.

Girls Prep Lower East Side Elementary School

Girls Prep Lower East Side is the first all-girls charter school in New York City. The school opened in 2005 and has since grown to a complete K-4 elementary school. In 2009, Girls Prep ranked among the top five charter schools in New York on the statewide tests. Staff and student retention is incredibly high. Our parents are thrilled with the education their girls are receiving. On parent surveys, 95-99% of surveyed Girls Prep parents are satisfied with their daughter's academic progress and 95-100% of parents feel welcome at the school. In the past three years, as many as seven students have applied for every available spot. Girls Prep focuses on educating the whole student. In addition to being intensely focused on academics, students attend music or art every day, take yoga classes, and learn to support their sisters and take care of themselves.

At Girls Prep LES, 97% of our students are African-American, Latina or Multi-Racial. 73% of our students receive Free and Reduced Price Lunch. We offer absolute preference for District 1 families, and 46% of our students are District 1 Residents. Girls Prep LES provides intensive at-risk services and academic supports so that all students can succeed. 8% of students receive SETTS, 7% receive speech, 15% receive counseling and 16% receive tutoring.

Girls Prep Lower East Side Middle School

The Girls Prep Middle School opened in the fall of 2009 with fifth grade and is growing to a 5-8 middle school. We believe that our middle school model will ensure that our students exceed standards. Students have an extended day and a Saturday academy to ensure that they are prepared. Upon graduation, our girls will be ready to enter the best college prep high schools in New York. The Girls Prep middle school students join basketball and debate teams, found their own businesses, and support their community.

At Girls Prep LES, 97% of our students are African-American or Latina. 73% of our students receive Free and Reduced Price Lunch. We offer absolute preference for District 1 families, and 46% of our students live in Community School District 1. Girls Prep Bronx Elementary School

Girls Prep Bronx opened in the fall of 2009 with kindergarten and first grade and is growing to a K-4 school model. Girls Prep Bronx is the sister school to Girls Prep Lower East Side and follows the same model that allows Girls Prep to thrive.

At Girls Prep Bronx, 99.9% of our students are African America, Latina or Multiracial. 90% of our students qualify for free and reduced price lunch. We offer absolute preference for District 8 students, and 64% live in Community School District 8. Girls Prep Bronx provides intensive at-risk services and academic supports so that all students can succeed. We are currently providing services to 8 students who are English Language Learners and 8 students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
