Our Schools

Public Prep serves three public charter schools on five campuses and one community-based co-ed public Pre-K. Girls Prep Lower East Side (“GP LES”) Elementary School, the inaugural school in our network and the first public all-girls charter school in New York City, is entering its tenth year and serves approximately 375 students in grades K-4. GP LES’s second campus, GP LES Middle School, is entering its sixth year, and serves approximately 225  students in grades 5-8. Girls Prep Bronx (“GP Bronx”) Elementary School, also entering its sixth year, serves 444 students in grades K-5. This fall, Public Prep will launch 1) our second middle school campus, GP Bronx Middle School, with approximately 100 sixth graders, 2)  our inaugural all-boys school, Boys Prep Bronx Elementary School, with approximately 144 students in kindergarten and first grade,  and 3) our first-ever co-ed Pre-K program, the Joan Ganz Cooney Early Learning Program, which will serve 54 four-year-olds at the historic Bronx Opera House.

 

Girls Prep Lower East Side Elementary School

Girls Prep Lower East Side (Girls Prep LES), Public Prep’s flagship school, was the first all-girls charter school in New York City. The school opened in 2005 and has grown to a complete K-4 elementary school. In 2009, Girls Prep ranked among the top five charter schools in New York on the statewide tests.

Girls Prep LES offers absolute preference to Community School District 1 (CSD1) families. That said, we welcome applicants from anywhere in New York City.

Girls Prep Lower East Side Middle School

Girls Prep Lower East Side Middle School (Girls Prep LES Middle) opened in the fall of 2009 and is currently serving grades 5-7. Girls Prep LES Middle will grow one grade per year until we reach capacity as a school serving grades 5-8 in 2012. Girls Prep Middle School students have an extended day, to ensure that their academic needs are met and exceeded. Upon graduation, our girls will be ready to enter the best college prep high schools in New York.

Girls Prep Bronx Elementary School

Girls Prep Bronx opened in the fall of 2009 with kindergarten and first grade and now serves grades K-5. Girls Prep Bronx is the sister school to Girls Prep Lower East Side.

We offer absolute preference for Community School District 8 students, but still welcome students from anywhere in New York City.
