Kenesia Wells is the Kindergarten Lead Teacher at Girls Prep LES Elementary School. She joined Public Prep in 2013 and is excited about joining the team and teaching kindergarten this year. Originally from North Carolina, Kenesia attended North Carolina State University, where she majored in Sociology and minored in Africana Studies/Political Science. She earned her Masters in Education from Metropolitan College of NY. Prior to working at Girls Prep, Ms. Wells was a founding kindergarten teacher for three years at a charter school in Brooklyn.

Lindsey Kent is the Kindergarten Associate Teacher in the Brenda Berkman kindergarten classroom at Girls Prep LES Elementary School. Lindsey joined Public Prep in 2012. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Columbia University and is pursuing her Master of Arts in Teaching at Relay Graduate School of Education. Prior to joining Girl Prep, Ms. Kent spent eight years producing educational content for young children at Scholastic and Nickelodeon.

Sophia attended the University of Pennsylvania where she received an MSEd in Elementary Education. She also received a BA from the University of Virginia. Prior to joining Girls Prep, Sophia taught kindergarten and fourth grade in Philadelphia as part of Teach for America.

Karissa Conefry is the Kindergarten Lead Teacher at Girls Prep LES Elementary School. She has been with Public Prep since 2012. Karissa attended Brooklyn College, SUNY Albany and Sage College earning an Associate's Degree in Legal Studies, a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology with a minor in Education and a Master's degree in Childhood Education. Prior to joining Public Prep, Karissa taught for three years in Brooklyn at Brooklyn Friends School and Poly Prep and then spent the last six years teaching in Los Angeles at Chatsworth Hills Academy and Pluralistic School One.

Lisa Johnson is the Kindergarten Fellow Teacher in the Julia Child classroom at Girls Prep LES Elementary School. Lisa has a wide range of international education experience having taught in Bangkok, Thailand and South Africa. Lisa joined Public Prep in 2013. Lisa attended James Madison University in Virginia with a degree in Early Childhood Education. Prior to teaching at Girls Prep, Lisa worked at First Republic Bank where she taught financial literacy to children and adults.

Sarah Nickerson is the First Grade Lead Teacher at Girls Prep LES Elementary School. As a lead teacher, Sarah plans rigorous and engaging lessons for her students and guides her students to push their learning further each day. Sarah joined Public Prep in 2013. Sarah attended the University of South Carolina with a degree in Early Childhood Education and is currently pursuing her Master's degree in Literacy from Teachers College-Columbia University. Prior to teaching at Girls Prep, Sarah taught at the Educational Alliance.

Nicole Serrano is the First Grade Associate Teacher at Girls Prep LES Elementary School. She joined Public Prep in 2013, and is   thrilled to join the Girls Prep community. Prior to coming to Girls Prep, she earned a Masters Degree in childhood education from Hunter College and taught at Hunter College Elementary School.

Melissa Lopez is the First Grade CTT Teacher at Girls Prep LES Elementary School. She fosters the social and academic growth of students with various learning modalities. She has been with Public Prep since 2010. Melissa attended New York University with a Bachelor of Science in General and Special Education and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership. Prior to joining Public Prep, Melissa taught at Amber Charter School and The Bronx Charter School for Children.

Robyn Milliner is the First Grade Lead Teacher at Girls Prep LES Elementary School. Robyn joined Public Prep in 2013, and as a recipient of a single-sex education, Robyn is very excited to join the team in providing an excellent education to young girls in New York City. She received her Bachelors in History and her Masters in Childhood Education from Adelphi University. Prior to teaching at Girls Prep, Robyn taught first and 5fifth grade at a charter school in Brooklyn.

Danae Condos is the First Grade Fellow Teacher at Girls Prep LES Elementary School. Danae joined Public Prep in 2013. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California at Berkeley and a Master of Science from the University of Oxford. She is currently attending Relay Graduate School of Education. Prior to joining Girls Prep, she worked as an instructor in the Ace It! Program with the Learning Sylvan Center, was a preschool teacher’s aid, and a high school mentor in the Bay Area.

Elisa Berhaupt is the Second Grade CTT Teacher at Girls Prep LES Elementary School. She is excited to continue instilling a love for learning in her students, while creating a positive and inclusive learning community. Elisa joined Public Prep in 2010. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Special Education and Childhood Education from the College of Saint Rose, as well as a Masters degree in Literacy from Hunter College.  Prior to teaching at Girls Prep, Elisa worked as a substitute teacher in Scotia School District in Upstate NY and at Wildwood School in Schenectady, NY.

Nitika Jain is the Second Grade CTT Teacher at Girls Prep LES Elementary School. Nitika's hope and dream is that all of her students gain the confidence and skills to become life-long learners and responsible citizens of the community. She has been with Public Prep since 2013.   Nitika attended Bank Street College with a M.S.  in Early and Elementary Childhood Education, and attended New York University with a B.A. in Computer Science and Economics. Prior to joining Public Prep, Nitika taught  at The Spence School and Bank Street School for Children. Before entering the field of education, Nitika worked in the financial industry.

Michelle Philippin is the Second Grade Lead Teacher of the Ursula Burns Class at Girls Prep LES Elementary School. As a second grade teacher, she is committed to creating a warm, yet academically rigorous classroom community where every girl gets what she needs to learn. She has been with Public Prep since 2009. Michelle earned a Master of Arts degree in Childhood Education from Teacher U at Hunter College, and also holds a degree from NYU in Educational Theatre. Prior to teaching at Girls Prep Michelle worked at the American Place Theatre as the Education Associate for Literature to Life.

Samantha. Song is the Third Grade Lead Teacher at Girls Prep LES Elementary School and the third grade level leader. Her goal is to encourage her students to become independent, passionate learners that are curious about the world around them. She has been with Public Prep since 2009, starting out in the Girls Prep fellows program teaching kindergarten. This is her fourth year teaching third grade. Samantha attended Barnard College of Columbia University with a degree in Political Science and minor in Economics. She also has a masters degree in Childhood Education Grades 1-6 from The Relay School.

Jennifer Lotito is the Third Grade CTT Teacher at Girls Prep LES Elementary School. She is committed to providing an inclusive, supportive, and rigorous environment to all of the scholars in the Dolores Huerta class. Jennifer joined Public Prep in 2012 and this is her fifth year teaching. Prior to teaching at Girls Prep, Jennifer taught in upstate New York as a special education teacher.  She attended Binghamton University where she earned both her BS in Psychobiology and her MS in Inclusive Childhood Education.

Prior to teaching at Girls Prep Amanda worked as a Learning Specialist at Excellence Boys Charter School in Brooklyn, NY and as a Literacy Specialist and ESL Coordinator at Match Community Day Charter School in Boston, MA.

Prior to teaching at Girls Prep, Margaret taught at Leadership Prep Brownsville in Brooklyn, NY and with Teach For America in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Alana Siegel is the Learning Specialist at Girls Prep LES Elementary School. She provides direct mandated and at-risk services to students in grades K-4. She has been with Public Prep since 2011. Alana graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor of Arts, and has a Masters degree from Pace University in General and Special Education. She is currently pursuing a second Masters degree at Bank Street in Educational Leadership with a focus in Special Education. Prior to joining Public Prep, Alana taught in the Bronx.

Donielle Lemone is the Reading Specialist at Girls Prep LES Elementary School. Donielle works with small groups and sometimes one-on-one with students to help them reach their full potential in reading. She has been with Public Prep since 2012. Donielle attended Wesleyan University in Connecticut with a degree in music. She earned her elementary teaching credential at Pace University and most recently completed a Master's as a Reading Specialist at Teachers College, Columbia University. Prior to joining Public Prep, Donielle taught first and second grade at Achievement First Crown Heights Elementary School and taught at Hollingworth Preschool while at Teachers College.

Philip delaHoussaye is the Learning Specialist/After-School Coordinator at Girls Prep LES Elementary School. He was a fellow from 2008-2010, and returned to Public Prep in 2013. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Saint Louis University in St. Louis, and a Master of Science in Elementary Education from Teacher U at Hunter College. Before returning to Girls Prep, Philip taught second and third grade in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn.

Tomasz Krzyzostaniak is the English Language Learners Coordinator at Girls Prep LES Elementary School. Tomasz focuses on identifying and providing support to English language learners. In addition to this, he works with the Student Support Team to support learning at all grade levels. He joined Girls Prep in 2012. Tomasz attended to the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he majored in International Studies and History. He also completed the M.S. TESOL program at Lehman College. Prior to joining Public Prep, Mr. Krzyzostaniak spent five years teaching in the Bronx and one year teaching English and Geography in Mongolia.

Prior to teaching at Girls Prep, Sarah worked at three different K-8 schools in Colorado.

Rhonda Landwehr is the Fitness Teacher at Girls Prep LES Elementary School. She joined Public Prep in 2012. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sports Management from St. Cloud State University, MN and a Master of Arts in Education from University of St. Thomas, MN.  Prior to teaching at Girls Prep, Ms. Landwehr taught fitness at Laura Jeffrey Academy in St. Paul, MN and English in Seoul, South Korea.

Carolina Aguasanta is the Spanish Teacher at Girls Prep LES Elementary School. She joined Public Prep in 2013. Carolina earned a BS. ED in Childhood Education 1-6 with a concentration in Spanish and a MS.ED in Teaching Literacy B-6 at St. John’s University. Prior to teaching at Girls Prep, she taught for three years as a lead classroom teacher and Spanish teacher in a NYC school.

Versha Munshi-South, Principal

Principal

Versha Munshi-South is deeply honored to serve as the Principal at Girls Prep LES Elementary School. In 2007 she joined Public Prep as a first grade teacher, and continued to teach first and second grades for three years. Versha then worked as the Instructional Coach for two years, supporting teachers with data analysis, curriculum planning, and professional development. In 2012 Versha completed a year-long principal residency, during which she spent time at all of the Public Prep schools and planned for her first year as principal. Versha attended The University of Chicago and graduated with a B.A. in Sociology. She also received her M.A. in Elementary Education from Washington University in St. Louis. Prior to joining Public Prep, Versha taught second and third grades in Montgomery County, MD. Versha strongly believes in empowering all students by providing them with access to high-quality education. She is extremely proud of the scholarship, merit, sisterhood, and responsibility that is evident every day in the Girls Prep community of students, families, and staff.

Rebekah Adamek is the Director of Curriculum and Assessment at Girls Prep LES Elementary School. Rebekah is a member of the Instructional Leadership Team and works closely with the staff and students at Girls Prep in a variety of ways including supporting curriculum and using data to inform instruction in classrooms. Rebekah joined Public Prep in 2011. Rebekah received a B.A. in the History of Art from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and, while participating in the Teach for America program, received an M.S. in Teaching from Pace University. Prior to joining Public Prep, Rebekah worked as a Reading Specialist at Future Leaders Institute and as a classroom teacher at Bronx Charter School for the Arts and P.S. 310 in the Bronx. She also taught internationally at the American Community School Hillingdon in England.  Rebekah is a proud alumna of an all girls high school and is committed to helping provide an excellent education to the students at Girls Prep LES Elementary School.

Bridget Foley is the Learning Specialist Coordinator at Girls Prep LES Elementary School. Bridget is a member of the Instructional Leadership Team and works closely with the Student Support Team in order to support students and teachers. She coordinates and supports the special education program, 504 accommodation plans, and academic intervention services. She has been with Public Prep since 2006. Bridget received her B.A. degree in Government from Smith College. She received her M.A in Childhood Education from Brooklyn College and is currently pursuing an advanced Masters in Leadership for Educational Change with a focus in special education at Bank Street College of Education. Prior to joining Public Prep, Bridget taught at P.S. 308 in Brooklyn. 

Jessica Willis

Jessica Willis is the Mathematics Instructional Coach at Girls Prep Lower East Side Elementary School.  In her role, Jessica supports teachers in planning and implementing excellent math instruction. She has been with Public Prep since 2006, and has previously served Girls Prep as a Lead Teacher, Curriculum Specialist, Assistant Principal, and Director of Curriculum and Assessment. Jessica attended New College of Florida, earning a BA in Art History, Brooklyn College, earning an MS in Childhood Education, and Teachers College, earning an Ed M in Public School Leadership. Prior to joining Girls Prep, Jessica worked as a New York City Teaching Fellow, teaching at a public school in Flatbush, Brooklyn. 

Kristen Diehl, English Language Arts Instructional Coach

Kristen Diehl is the English Language Arts Instructional  Coach at Girls Prep LES Elementary School. Kristen joined Public Prep in 2013. As a member of the Instructional Leadership Team Kristen works with teachers and students to support English Language Arts throughout the school. Kristen graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, while also completing an elementary teaching certification program. She received a Masters of Education in Language and Literacy from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.  Prior to joining Girls Prep, Kristen spent fifteen years as a classroom teacher in grades K-4 in Pennsylvania and Northern Virginia.

Yohana De Los Santos is the Director of Student and Family Affairs at Girls Prep LES Elementary School. Positive family experiences and good student choices are her main focus. She has been with Public Prep since 2005. Yohana attended John Jay College of Criminal Justice and received a BA in Public Administration. She is currently pursuing her MA in Education with a specialization in Family and Community Services from Ashford University. Prior to joining Girls Prep, Yohana worked at Village Academy as the Dean of Students.

Rosa Lanza is the Family Coordinator at Girls Prep LES Elementary School. In her role, she supports the Director of Student & Family Affairs and serves as a full-time resource to families. She joined Public Prep in 2010.  Prior to joining Public Prep, Rosa worked in the legal field for more than sixteen years.

Prior to joining Public Prep, Wilma worked as an Assistant Teacher at Association to Benefit Children.

Erica Salomon is the Counseling Coordinator at Girls Prep LES Elementary School. She works with  Girls Prep scholars on  their social-emotional development. Erica joined Public Prep in 2012.  Erica earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Vermont and a Master of Social Work from New York University.  Prior to joining Public Prep, Erica worked at The Educational Alliance in its school-based counseling program.

Shamis Abdi is the Director of Operations at Girls Prep LES Elementary School. In her role, she is responsible for finance, information technology, human resources, facilities management, purchasing, state and city compliance, and school operations. She joined Public Prep in 2011. Shamis earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Business Administration from Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University.  Prior to joining Girls Prep, she worked within the human resources consulting and financial services industries.

Jennifer Fernandez is the School Aide at Girls Prep LES Elementary School. As a school aide she helps Girls Prep students as well as staff. She has been with Public Prep since 2011. Jennifer attended CUNY Kingsborough College and attained her Associates in Arts. Currently, she is attending CUNY City College and plans to graduate Spring/Summer 2014. Prior to joining Public Prep, Jennifer worked as a UPK Aide at Hudson Guild Daycare Center as well as a facilitator in their afterschool program.
